Hello! I'm Ganesh Sivamani, an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), a public policy think tank in New Delhi. My research sits at the intersection of energy, natural resources, and economic policy in India. My work on India’s non-fuel minerals and mining sector - spanning resource allocation mechanisms, exploration incentives, and critical minerals assessments - has helped inform Indian government policymaking in this space, and seeks solutions that balance economic efficiency with equitable, sustainable outcomes for communities and the environment. My research is underpinned by quantitative databases that I have helped construct for India, including Input-Output Tables, an Environmentally-extended Social Accounting Matrix, and an energy balance.I have increasingly applied Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling to help India navigate trade and energy policy choices against a shifting global backdrop, from critical mineral and green technology supply chains to broader questions of trade strategy and strategic autonomy. I am closely involved in the technical and collaborative work behind CSEP’s Collaborative on Indian Regional Economic Modelling (CIREM), a new initiative creating a state-level CGE model for India, that engages academia, state governments, and other stakeholders, to trace how national and global economic shocks affect states differently.I hold a Master of Engineering from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Energy, Sustainability, and the Environment.Outside my research, I enjoy spending time in nature and taking photos of wildlife.
